Drinking Water for 35 Million In Southwest United States At Risk From New Tar Sands Strip Mine.
A Canadian tar sands company is just beginning to strip-mine in Utah, in the Colorado River watershed, threatening drinking water for 35 million Americans. In Canada, residents downstream from the Alberta Tar Sands are experiencing dramatically increased rates of cancer and other diseases, and the fish and animals in the area are contaminated with heavy metals.
The Utah Tar Sands Impact Campaign will utilize the film Last Rush For The Wild West as a centerpiece for information, engagement and action. It will activate grassroots and stakeholder opposition in towns and cities across the American southwest, and will influence decision makers to step in and avert this impending disaster.
